East Grinstead Target Shooting Club hosted 70 competitors for the Spring Open Shoot over the weekend of 16/17 April. The Double Dewar match drew competitors from 23 clubs as far afield as Jersey and Wolverhamton. For once, the weather was fine and winds light but tricky for some. Winner of the Felbridge Bowl for highest score was A Cornbill of Southwick shooting in Class A, with a score of 778.
Runner up in Class A was D Saunders of Bearsted & Thurnham with 777, and third was D J Swan of Wheathamstead with 775. Winners in Class B, C and D were respectively JR Woods of Hampton, BT Newman of Carshalton and B Butler of Eastbourne. It was left to the ladies to uphold the honour of East Grinstead with Elaine Kettle winning the best 40 shots at 100 yards in Class C, and Sarah Davies taking third place in Class D.
